JERMAINE DANTE' BURSE
Jermaine Dante’ Burse is a prolific, self-taught artist who began drawing impressive black and white sketches on almost any surface he could find when he was three years old. Gradually, the sketches of cartoon characters, super-heroes and abstracts, became more sophisticated and intricate as Jermaine added shading and color to his work.
As a child, Jermaine was influenced by two school buddies, Ben Gamulo and Jayson Cook who shared his interest in innovative art. He saw a picture of Winnie the Pooh and duplicated the piece flawlessly before he attended first grade.
During his teenage years, he broadened his passion and knowledge by studying the art of the great Master’s as well as 20th century artists, DuChamp, Matisse, Picasso, Jean-Michele Basquiat and Pop Artist Andy Warhol. He cites Walt Disney as his greatest influencer.
A Napa Valley Bay Area native, Jermaine’s innovative use of color, compounding presents subdued, but often bold and strikingly larger than life figures that lend to the intrigue and complexity of his paintings. “Everything you can imagine is real,” wrote Pablo Picasso and Jermaine’s work is the epitome of that philosophy.
Over the past 8 years, his art has evolved to a spontaneous realism genre that cannot be easily categorized but it is certainly recognized as a “Maine” original with his unique depictions of figures such as Barak Obama, Stevie Wonder, Brand Ferrari, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Louis Armstrong. Jermaine is also a socially charged artist with a few series touching on topics such as Homelessness, No Middle Cla$$, Health-Care reform and going after your dreams. He also accepts commissioned art from clients who seek the “Maine” touch for portraits of their favorite icons, families and friends.
Jermaine’s art is on display at various San Francisco Art Shows, Galleries and Wineries throughout his home in The Bay Area. Jermaine has broadened his exposure by attending and showing work at Art Basel in Florida, Kaaboo Music Festival in Del Mar, California, the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and a plethora of Foundational dinners where Professional Athletes and Celebrities have attended and purchased Jermaine’s art. Jermaine is an active participant with Doctors Without Borders, Build a Heart Foundation, Mentis Mental Health as well as Ferrari Sacramento Chapter, where he has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars towards to those organizations using his art.
The sky is the limit for this kid from the Bay Area. as his brand continues to grow, so does his personal expectations to be the best version of himself in everything that he set mind to. What is left to achieve for this artist that has never allowed boundaries to define the scope of his work or his dreams. Only time will tell...
